If you've enabled chat history, the platform typically records your interactions to improve user experience and functionality. However, there may be times when you want to delete all of this chat history for privacy reasons or to clear unnecessary data.
In this article, we'll walk you through the simple steps to delete your chat history, ensuring you maintain control over your data while using our assistant effectively.
What is Chat History?
By default, when chat history is enabled via Workspace Settings > Setup > Assistant > Settings > Chat History, all conversations between you and the assistant are stored. This can include interactions with both public knowledge and the Glean Assistant. In Glean, chat history is automatically maintained for 30 days by default. After this period, older chat data is typically purged, so you don’t have to manually clear it unless you want to manage the data sooner.
How to Delete Chat History in Glean Assistant
If you're looking to delete your chat history before the 30-day retention period ends, follow these straightforward steps:
- First, navigate to the Chat section of your workspace.
- At the top right corner of the page, you'll see a gear icon. Click on this icon to access settings related to your chat history.
- From the settings menu, select the Delete Chat History option. This will prompt a confirmation window.
- To finalize the process, confirm the deletion by clicking on the Delete button. Once you confirm, your chat history will be permanently removed.
